Points, Badges and the Leaderboard

If your organization has turned on points and badges, you earn them just by learning. This article explains how.

How You Earn Points

You earn points when you:

• Sign in — once a day.
• Finish a course.
• Earn a certificate.
• Pass a quiz — the first time you pass it. Taking it again does not add more.
• Post in a course discussion — up to a daily limit.

Your organization decides how many points each one is worth. Points can take a few minutes to show up, and sign-in points up to about 15 minutes.

Levels

Your points put you on a level, like Beginner or Expert. To see your level:

1. Open Achievements from the menu and choose the Badges tab, or
2. Look at the points card on your Home page, or on your Profile.

The bar shows how many points you need to reach the next level.

Badges

Badges are awarded automatically when you reach a goal, like finishing five courses or reaching 500 points. You get a notification when you earn one.

On Achievements → Badges you can see:

• the badges you have earned, with the date, and
• the badges you have not earned yet, with how close you are.

The Leaderboard

1. Open Leaderboard from the menu. Some organizations choose not to rank learners against each other; then there is no Leaderboard item, and your points, level and badges are still under Achievements.
2. Choose Everyone to see the whole organization, or My groups to see only people in your groups.
3. Your own row is highlighted, and your rank is shown above the list.

The leaderboard only shows first names and the first letter of last names.

Hide Yourself from the Leaderboard

1. Open Leaderboard.
2. Turn off Show me on leaderboards.

You are hidden from every leaderboard right away. You keep your points, badges and level. Turn it back on at any time.

Troubleshooting
