Rate a Course
You can give a course 1 to 5 stars and leave a short comment. Your rating helps other learners pick courses, and your comment helps the course team make the course better.
Who can rate
- You can rate a course once you are enrolled in it. You do not have to finish it first.
- You rate each course once. If you rate it again, your new stars and comment replace the old ones.
- Some courses have ratings turned off. On those courses you will not see stars or the rating box.
Rate a course
- Go to Courses and open the course.
- Find the Rate this course box on the course page.
- Click a star: 1 star is the lowest, 5 stars is the best. You can also use the arrow keys to choose.
- If you want, write a comment in Comment (optional). Keep it under 1,000 characters.
- Click Submit rating.
When you finish a course, the course page asks “How was this course?” and the completion screen shows a Rate this course link. You can skip it — nothing else waits for your rating.
Change or remove your rating
- Open the course page.
- In the Rate this course box you see your stars and your comment.
- Click Edit to change them, then Update rating.
- Or click Remove to take your rating away.
Who sees your rating
- Your stars count toward the course average. Everyone who can see the course sees the average and the number of ratings — not who gave them.
- Your comment is only shown to you and to the course team (instructors and admins). Other learners never see it, and it is never shown on the public course page.
- Comments are shown as plain text.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| I don’t see the rating box | Make sure you are enrolled in the course. If you are, the course may have ratings turned off. |
| My rating disappeared | A course admin can remove a rating that breaks the rules. You can rate the course again. |
| I can’t save my rating | Pick at least one star before you click Submit rating. |
