Learner HelpSet Up Two-Factor Authentication

Set Up Two-Factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra step when you sign in: a 6-digit code from an app on your phone. Even if someone learns your password, they cannot get into your account without your phone.

What you need

An authenticator app on your phone. Common free options:

  • Google Authenticator
  • Microsoft Authenticator
  • Authy

Turn on two-factor authentication

  1. Click your avatar in the top-right corner and choose My Profile.
  2. Next to Two-factor authentication, click Manage.
  3. Click Set up two-factor authentication.
  4. Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code on the screen.
    • Can’t scan it? Click Enter the key manually and type the code into your app instead.
  5. Your app now shows a 6-digit code. Type it into the box and click Verify and activate.

Save your backup codes

After setup, you will see 10 backup codes. Each one works exactly once if you ever lose your phone.

  • Click Copy codes and save them somewhere safe (a password manager is ideal).
  • They are shown only this one time.

Signing in with two-factor authentication

  1. Enter your email and password as usual.
  2. When asked, type the 6-digit code from your authenticator app.

Note: You are only asked for a code if your organization has turned on two-factor authentication. Your setup is saved either way.

Lost your phone?

  • Use one of your backup codes instead of the app code.
  • Out of backup codes too? Contact your administrator — they can reset two-factor authentication on your account so you can set it up again.

Turn it off

  1. Go to My Profile → Two-factor authentication → Manage.
  2. Click Disable two-factor authentication and confirm.
