Rate Your Own Skills
You can say which level you think you have reached on a skill. This is called a self-assessment. Your manager or an administrator then checks it. Your organization chooses which: in some, only an administrator decides. The new level counts only after they validate it.
Where to find your skills
- Open Achievements from the top bar.
- Choose the Skills tab.
Each row shows a skill and where you stand against the level your job roles require. See Your skills and what your role requires for how to read it.
Rate yourself on a skill
- Find the skill in the list and click the arrow at the end of its row to open the details.
- Click Self-assess.
- Pick the level you think you have reached. You can only pick a level higher than the one you already hold.
- If you want, add a short note that shows why — for example, I have done this on every shift for a year.
- Click Send for validation.
In the details you now see You claimed … — waiting for validation, and the skill’s status box gets a dashed outline.
Your level does not change yet, and the skill does not count as met yet. It changes only once someone validates it.
When you are asked to rate yourself
Your manager or an administrator can ask you to rate your level in a skill. You receive a notice (in the app and by email) that opens your skills. Rate yourself as described above; the request does not change your level by itself.
What happens next
| What they decide | What you see |
|---|---|
| Validates your level | Your level goes up. The row says Validated by your manager or an administrator, with their note if they left one. |
| Validates a lower level | Your level goes up to the level they confirmed, not the one you asked for. |
| Rejects it | Your level stays the same. The row says Your claim … was not validated, with their note. You can self-assess again later. |
Change or cancel a claim
While your claim is still waiting:
- Click Update my claim to pick a different level or change your note.
- Click Withdraw to cancel it.
If your organization’s plan no longer includes skills management, you cannot make a new claim. A claim that is still waiting stays on your Skills tab, and you can still click Withdraw to cancel it.
Other ways your level goes up
You do not always need to self-assess. Your level also goes up on its own when:
- you complete a course that teaches the skill, or
- you pass a quiz that your organization linked to the skill.
Your level never goes down on its own. Only an administrator can lower it.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| There is no Self-assess button on a skill | You already hold the highest level (Expert), or your organization has turned self-assessment off. A claim you already sent still counts and can still be withdrawn. |
| My claim has been waiting a long time | Ask your manager or an administrator. Claims appear in the Skill Validations section of their Call to Action page. |
| My Skills tab is empty | No job role is linked to you and you hold no skill level yet. Ask your administrator. |
